A Black Canadian, Performing Artist & Educator who specializes in Popping & Hip-Hop. Emerging out of the Greater Toronto Area in 2009 and internationally recognized since 2014. For Tyrell, Dance is Communication! His years of studying the dances within and around the African Diaspora, including both traditional views & secular. Comprehending that these dances were meant to heal us, connect us and guide us into our highest potentials of life. Tyrell continuously seeks for that next epiphany, life lesson and or deeper connection to those around him in the physical or spiritual realm and to share that blessing.
As a Performing Artist, Tyrell lives for the thrill of street dance culture. Whether it be winning dance battles, cyphers exchanges, taking the stage or throwing down something fresh for the gram. Gratefully, to date Tyrell Black has been awarded a collection of achievements both solo & group oriented (specifics are noted in résumé). He also recognizes his privilege to have constant access to credible guidance from his elders, the pioneers, originators, top industry & underground street dancers who have all greatly shaped and molded his development in life, dance and his career.
As an Educator, Tyrell Black has found himself working with Universities, Dance Schools, Dance Businesses, Not-for Profit & Charitable Organizations, Youth Programs and of course Dance studios. From Canada to; Africa, Asia, USA & Europe. Sharing Street Dance Culture and all of its Truths is the mission and finding peace love & unity through these experiences is just the biggest blessing of all.
Lastly, Tyrell Black is also the Founder of BLVCKOUT, a project-based organization that serves as a platform for aspiring artists. A social entrepreneurship business based in Toronto, Canada. Where we navigate much needed dance events, workshops and programs that all focus on providing quality developmental experiences for those who consider themselves to be more invested than your typical dancing hobbyist.
